Next Generation AI Governance

Future Proofing the Governance of and by AI: Designing future-proof governance frameworks to help regulators maximize the benefits and minimize the risks of AI and data technologies
Work Package 2 explores how emerging AI and data technologies intersect with evolving EU regulation, focusing on three critical areas: restricted data access, self-preferencing in digital rankings, and online consumer manipulation.
Through interdisciplinary research, the project examines legal, ethical, and technical challenges in each domain, ranging from the potential of machine unlearning to support compliant data exchange, to defining measurable indicators for self-preferencing, and designing fair digital interfaces to counter manipulation.
The project aims to provide regulators with actionable frameworks to monitor compliance and anticipate regulatory gaps, ultimately contributing to the design of governance models that are resilient, enforceable, and aligned with European values.
